Philip Longfellow Anderson

ABOUT THE AUTHOR


       Philip Longfellow Anderson a native Californian, was born in Glendale.  A descendant of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, he traces his family tree back to Mayflower Pilgrims, John Alden and Priscilla Mullins, whose real-life romance provided the subject for the poet's fictional "Courtship of Myles Standish".  Anderson attended Pomona College (B.A.), Yale University Divinity School (M.Div.), with additional academic study at UC Berkeley, Hartford Seminary, and Pacific School of Religion.  Prior to Ordination as a Minister of the United Church of Christ, he was employed at various times by the Berkeley Gazette, Hink's Department Store, Disneyland, Tilden Regional Park, and the United States Government.  He has served as Conference Youth Minister in Connecticut, Student Intern in Utah, and Pastor of churches in Washington and California.  He is currently Pastor Emeritus of the Church of the Lighted Window in La Canada Flintridge, California.  He is Past President of a Rotary Club (Sebastopol, CA), Past President of a Kiwanis Club (La Canada, CA), as well as active in many civic and church organizations.  He organizes travel groups, enjoys swimming pools, collects Disney memorabilia, reads mysteries, has appeared on several TV shows (Wheel of Fortune, The Price Is Right, Card Sharks, Password, Today's Religion, Morning Devotions).
